Going Back to the Basics
Since release this site has evolved from being clutter free and focusing strictly on content to becoming a site that contains what I feel is much disorder with less content being added weekly.
However, I expect to take the website back to basic web standards and releasing more content weekly that focuses on a wider range of subjects.
Taking Netjelly back to the basics will require a redesign to focus on four factors.
1. Content
In my articles I drive the point, that content is the trump card in website success and I apply that same standard to this site. With the new design I intend to make content the main focus once more as well as release more of it weekly to keep readers entwined.
2. Accessibility
Its very important to me and it will become one of my major priorities. I plan to make content viewable in all major browsers (like always), place all content in text format for users with eye impairments, and focus on load times for users with slower Internet connections.
3. Usability
I would say that the site has reached great usability even with the current design. I offer less categories to make articles easier to find and have a search option if you look to refine your search to different keywords then the ones provide by category name. I do plan to refine my RSS feed and my social bookmarking feature under every article.
4. Clutter Free
I had planned for the site to be as simple as possible to keep user focus off the design and instead on the content. However, as the site has become more popular I have added features to attempt to make the site more user friendly, which I believe have created a disorder in how the site should flow.
The design changes will be carried out this week and I have already begun writing some new articles that you all will be interested in reading.
Finally, I have received emails recently from readers interesting in becoming authors. I expect to add some new writers to the mix in coming weeks and wish for others to email me if you’re interested.
